While watching men's springboard diving....
Me: These guys are cut out of flippin' marble.
Jenn: mmmhmm
Me: Seriously, they are amazing.
Jenn: I know.
Me: I could do that.
Jenn: Ok, now you're just lying.
Me: No really, I could do that.
Jenn: Idiot, you are afraid of heights!
Me (snarkily): Minor technicality.

LOL!!
I'm quite familiar with the delusion your friend suffers from... in fact, I suffer from it as well, and have the same issue everytime I watch any sort of sporting event. I WAS Katarina Witt back in the 1988 Winter Olympics... I definitely WAS Nadia Comaneci back in 1976 in Montreal... and, of course, I WAS Florence Griffith Joyner in 1988 in Seoul.
This time around, I think I'm going to become Shawn Johnson. Yeah, I'll be her. Delusional living is fun.
Yes, I am QUITE an accomplished athlete in any sport I set my mind to. :-)
I'm afraid of diving boards...watching my friend crack her head on the board in high school pretty much cemented my fear.
But I do the same thing..usually with ice skating. I "glide" around the house for days after watching ice skating..
